Windsor Developments is awaiting the outcome of its planning application for a site within 100 yards of Beadnell Bay.

It is planning a surfer style bar and takeaway for light meals with an open courtyard and a seated firepit at ground floor level.

Upstairs it would offer a more formal dining experience with enviable views to Dunstanburgh Castle complemented by a creative menu of locally caught, grilled fish and other fresh produce.

Stephen Dixon, managing director of Windsor Developments, said: “Having been a long-term visitor to Beadnell with my parents, I have spent many years of enjoyment in the area.

"My desire is to ensure that any development is in keeping with the local surroundings and what the local community would enjoy. I truly believe we can create one of the best restaurants on the North East coast that will mirror the beauty of the village.”

He continued: “The impact of the pandemic has not thrown the project off track but rather has provided time for me to push on faster and more efficiently.

"The hospitality industry is robust in this part of the world and people love the outdoors, especially the coast, so I see the venue as meeting the needs of both the local community with its planned job creation as well as catering for the growing number of visitors choosing to visit Northumberland.”

Ashdan Consulting has been appointed to project manage the £1m hospitality development

Newcastle-based xsite architecture have been given the task of coming up with a design to reflect the coastal setting whilst being sympathetic to its immediate surroundings in the popular seaside village.

John Johnson, managing director of Ashdan Consulting, said: “We’re delighted with this latest appointment on what I believe is set to be an exciting new venture for both Windsor Developments and Beadnell.

“We have worked closely with xsite on the overall design of the scheme and by engaging a specialist landscape architect, we have developed a design which complements the surrounding environment.”

If permission is granted, it is estimated The Landing, the likely name for the development, will create 10-15 new full-time jobs and approximately 30-40 part-time and holiday jobs.

Completion is expected in summer 2021.
