Visitors to Northumberland town get social distancing reminder

With caravan parks and other attractions re-opened, along with the Scottish school summer holidays, Berwick is enjoying a boom in visitors.
While it’s great news for the local economy, visitors and residents are being reminded of the need to keep their distance from each other when out and about - as the town centre in particular is extremely busy.

Hide AdWhile signs are in place reminding people to keep their distance and shops, cafes and restaurants are all playing their part, the council is reminding everyone to stick to the current guidance.
Liz Morgan, director of public health at Northumberland County Council, said: “Although numbers of cases remain low in the county, this is no time for complacency.
“We remain in the midst of a pandemic and as we've seen from other areas, infection rates can escalate very quickly so it remains really important that we all continue to follow the rules.”
“We can minimise the risk of catching coronavirus by keeping contact with other people to a minimum; maintaining that two-metre social distance from people outside your household; and regular hand washing.”

Hide AdPeople are reminded that it is vital to stay at home if they have Covid-19 symptoms to reduce the risk of infecting anyone else and to get tested.
Anyone who does test positive, must respond to contact from NHS Test and Trace.
