Man remanded in custody over alleged Northumberland meat cleaver attack on council employee

The local authority worker was taken to hospital after emergency services were called to Cedar Grove, Alnwick, on Boxing Day last year.
The employee, described as being in his 20s, was said by Northumbria Police to have suffered “life-changing injuries” to his hands as a result of the incident.

Hide AdHe is believed to have been boarding up a property in the street at the time.
Bradley Fenwick, 27, of Brook Court, Bedlington, was charged with attempted murder and made his first appearance at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court three days later.
Owing to the severity of the charge, the case was transferred to Newcastle Crown Court, where Fenwick was again remanded in custody until Tuesday, May 11.
A trial is provisionally set to begin at the crown court on Monday, July 12.
