Doctor working at Northumberland's NHS trust back on duty as special constable to serve community

When Joshua Michie isn’t helping out on Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols team as a special constable, he’s working hard in his day job as a doctor within the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Joshua took a leave of absence from the world of policing to devote himself to tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hide AdBut after months away from the force, the 25-year-old has now returned to his duties as a special constable.
He said: “I’m so pleased to be back with Northumbria Police – it’s great to be out on patrol and in the heart of the community once again.
“To make sure the risk of me contracting the virus is as low as possible, I work alone which has been great for my development and problem solving and really thrown me back in the world of policing.
“The force has been nothing but supportive of me so it’s been great to come back and show them how passionate I am about being a Special and to help them out during this challenging time.
