Charities to benefit from Northumberland pub quiz nights run by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire winner
The new arrangement at The Black Bull in Etal, is part of the changes made by Jonny Hodgson and Pete Nash, the owners of the local Cheviot Brewery, who have been running the historic thatched village pub since last
autumn.
The quiz continues to be set and hosted by Etal resident Eric Musgrave, who won £64,000 on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in January 2019.

Other beneficiaries through the year will include Berwick & District Cancer Support Group, the Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre, Etal Show and Etal Village Hall.
Eric explained: “Last spring the former management of The Black Bull asked me to start hosting a quiz as a way of attracting customers to the pub. This was very much a commercial arrangement and I was paid the takings to cover my time in compiling the questions and hosting the event.
“In the few months Jonny and Pete from Cheviot Brewery have been running The Black Bull, it has become much more of a community hub for the village and we collectively decided we wanted the proceeds of the evenings to go to local charities.”

At each quiz the highest-scoring team wins a £20 voucher to spend at The Black Bull.
In another new twist, at the end of this year a grand prize including a Cheviot Brewery tour for six people, followed by a meal at the pub, will be awarded to the team with the highest accumulated score based on their best three rounds each quiz.
The next quiz night is on Monday, February 3 at 7.30pm.
