Man arrested following Alnwick stabbing incident

The 48-year-old injured man was rushed to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary by ambulance following the incident near Lion Bridge, Alnwick, at just before 7pm on Tuesday, June 16.
Police have described his wounds as as “serious but not-life threatening” and confirmed that a 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Hide AdA Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6.50pm on Tuesday, police received a report that a 48-year-old man had been assaulted near the Lion Bridge, Alnwick.
“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing.
“Inquiries into the circumstances around the incident are ongoing and a 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault.
“He currently remains in police custody at this time.”
A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said on Tuesday night: “We are were called at 6.53pm to reports of a man being stabbed in Alnwick.

Hide Ad“We despatched a paramedic ambulance, the air ambulance and a senior office and conveyed him to the RVI by road.
“A doctor from the air ambulance come on board the road ambulance.”
The Northumbria Police spokesperson added: “Officers remain in the area to carry out inquiries and ask anyone with any information to call police on 101 quoting reference number 914 16/06/20.”
