A LOOK at the the results from the local clubs.

Goswick:

Winner of the December medal, with the lowest gross score of the day last Saturday, was Keith Turnbull on 69-5-64. Second was Duncan McKinley on 85-17-68, third Keith Manuel 76-7-69 and fourth Keith Manning on 79-9-70. A good day all round for the Keith’s!

Turkey Trot 3 was won by the in-form Donald Wilkinson with 38 points. Second was Steve Archibald and Ian Nevins with 36 points each, and fourth John Bain on 35 points.

Alan Lyall ran out worthy winner of the Simmons Sweep on Sunday with 37 points followed by Frank Dempster and Davey Howden both on 36 points.

The annual general meeting will be held in the clubhouse tonight (Thursday, December 20) at 7.30 pm. This will be followed with a short presentation by Doug Moscrop entitled ‘The secret hidden ,fauna, flora and wildlife of Goswick Links.’

The action this coming weekend will be Turkey Trot No. 4.

Members are invited to play in the Bill Renton (three clubs and a putter) Trophy competition on Boxing Day. It is a 12noon start played over 13 holes. Competitors are to bring along a small prize of £5 or thereabouts in value.

DOGLEG

MAGDALENE FIELDS:

Jack Roper grabbed the bird when he took first place in Saturday’s stableford turkey trot with 42 points. Wayne Etherington and Donald Findlay had 41 points to earn the places.

Graham Gebbie set the handicapper a poser when he scored an amazing 85-28-57 to win the Sunday eclectic medal.Runner-up Gregor Cumming had 74-9-65 and third placed Kevin Atkinson returned 71-6-65. Best gross went to Sean Jackson with his 71.

The traditional Boxing Day three clubs competition required two clubs and a putter - tee-off times from 9.30-10.30am.

On Thursday, December 27 there will be a pool and darts competition evening while the kids’ party will be on Saturday 29 at 1.30pm.

NIPPER

WOOLER:

In the Henry Curry Winter League, Geoff Tong leads on 36 points ahead of Geoff Brown and George Wilkinson both on 34.

Please note that the Christmas competition will take place on Sunday, December 30. Meet at the clubhouse at 10am for a 10.30 start in a nine hole Texas scramble.

Everyone playing is asked to bring a prize.

The winter league will be on the Saturday for that week only.
