HAWICK Royal Albert’s Declan Hogg took his goal tally to five following his second brace of the season in Saturday’s 3-2 victory at Eyemouth United.
Up-and-coming prospect Hogg, who has come on leaps and bounds since signing for Royalists at the beginning of the campaign, was well pleased with his contribution, but even happier with his side’s victory over a much-fancied Eyemouth outfit.
He said: “It was nice to score twice, and I almost got a hat-trick which could have been great.
“The most important thing is that the Albert won. It doesn’t matter who scores, as long as we win.
“Nobody thought we would beat Eyemouth, so it was a brilliant result for us.”
Alluding to the strong team spirt which was, Hogg continued: “Everybody worked really hard for each other, and that’s how we got our win.
“A few weeks ago when we went a goal behind our heads went down. But not now, and we showed that today by fighting back to get two late goals.
“We really wanted that game, and it was a great relief to get a win at the finish.
