Keeper ‘Yossi’ on ‘learning curve’ with Rangers

BERWICK goalkeeper Youssef Bejaoui is on a massive learning curve at the moment, and Berwick manager Ian Little is hoping he emerges from it all the stronger.

Bejaoui, who had been an ever-present in the side so far this season, lost his place in the starting line-up to Ian McCaldon after a poor performance against Stenhousemuir in a Scottish Cup defeat.

On Saturday he played for the Reserves at Shielfield against Peebles, but had the misfortune to be sent off midway through the second half in a 2-0 defeat.

“Yossi is having a hard time of it at the moment,” said Little. “The lads gave him some stick on the way to the East Stirling game on Sunday, but he’s big enough to take it and I’m sure he will come out of this experience all the stronger for it.

“Yossi is still learning the game, but I’m sure he will benefit from the experience.”

McCaldon, who hadn’t played for 19 months because of a back injury, has so far featured in two back to back wins - against Annan and East Stirling.

“‘Eagle’ is a vastly experienced keeper,” said Little, “and he has done well since coming back into the side. I had no hesitation in putting him in when he said he was OK to play.”
