Berwick v Civil Service
BERWICK strolled to an easy victory over lowly Civil Service at the Pier Field on Saturday.
Batting first openers Jon Benn and Scott Middlemist put together a century 1st wicket stand before Benn was brilliantly caught and bowled for 52 by Adam.
Middlemist continued his impressive form with a measured 78 before being bowled by Rhodes. Rob Patterson took Berwick to full batting points with a forceful unbeaten 77 as Berwick ended on 243 for the loss of three wickets.
In reply Civil Service were skittled out for only 65 and it would have been a lot worse but for some lusty hitting by De Jager who finished with 27. Jordan Woodcock was the star bowler picking up six wickets for only 16 runs while young Richard Farrish, in his first game in the first XI, cleaned up the tail taking three wickets for only two runs.
Victory keeps Berwick at the top of the league but this Saturday travel to Stobswood to take on the only other unbeaten side in the division.

Howick v Tillside
TILLSIDE made a positive start with the openers scoring at four an over for the first 12 overs, but a smart catch by father Chris Durie ended Ben McCreath's stay at the crease.
The next two batsmen with the help of Keith Bickerton took the score along to 100, but a mini collapse sparked by some fine bowling by youngster Elliott and a man three score years older than him, Brian Bickerton, reduced Tillside to 155-8 and they were in danger of folding early. However, Stuart Wright and Craig Smith hung in there and once in started playing some fine shots all around the wicket adding 62 in qucik time closing the innings on 217.
In reply Howick got off to the worst possible start as E Durie was run out in the first over by a fine piece of fielding by Gav Moscrop. Father and son James and Chris gave Robbie Jamieson fine support in the middle of the innings and with 25 overs to go Howick needed just over five an over but had seven wickets still in tact so were still in with a shout of victory.
Two quick wickets changed proceedings though and although youngster Campbell hit a fine 30, Stuart Wright came back into the attack to cap a memorable day with bat and ball as he finished with four wickets and with Kev Logan picking up two at the other end Howick fell well short.
Mitford v Embleton
MITFORD scrambled home by one wicket when they figured in a tense Alnwick and District league match with Embleton on Saturday.
Mitford all-rounder Michael Ellinor was the star performer with a superb 94. After a quiet start he steadily accelerated and his one man effort was largely responsible for Mitford overhauling the target set them of 176.
Embleton reached 175 and that represented a good effort with most of their batsmen contributing useful scores..P Grey was the most successful with a fine 66 and it was Ellinor
who claimed the bowling honours for Mitford with a spell of 3-28.
Berwick 2nds v Rock
BERWICK seconnds recorded a very comfortable victory over Rock on Saturday in the Alnwick & District league.
After electing to bat first Berwick openers Tim McCreath and Glen Bird gave them a solid start before Bird was bowled by Johnson for 37. McCreath was then joined by Sean Wales who batted beautifully for an unbeaten 57. McCreath went on to notch 118 and Berwick finished their innings on 252 for 4 wickets.
In reply Rock lost two early wickets before Micky Gray (41) and Tony Dunn (40) gave the home side some hope but when they were both dismissed the rest of the batting crumbled and the home side were eventually all out for 110. Brian Simmons (3 for 13) and Dominic McCreath (3 for 20) were the most successful bowlers in a youthful bowling attack with Shearer, Emery and Hush picking up a wicket each.
Warenford v Kelso
WARENFORD gave a fine all-round performance as they trounced Kelso by eight wickets in the Alnwick and District Cricket League on Saturday.
It was a fine all-round display with good bowling, enthuiastic fielding and steady batting.
On top from the start, Warenford worked their way through the Kelso batting line up by taking wickets regularly and J Hogg led the way with a five wicket haul which cost him only 37 runs. The others provided good support.Kelso were dismissed for a modest 89.
Kevin Thompson set Warenford off to an accomplshed start with 34 and the target was quickly overhauled when Brian Thompson and Richard Pettsrin shared a third wicket partnership in which Thompson was unbeaten for 30 and Patterson for 20.
* FIXTURES for the Alnwick and District Cricket League for this Saturday (June 7) are:
Alnmouth v Warenford; Berwick v Warkworth; Embleton v Tillside; Mitford v Kelso; Red Row v Rock; Shilbottle v Wooler.
