ANYONE interested in sport in Berwick either as an individual or invovled in team sports now has an invaluable source up and running to help them.
The Active Berwick website is now on line with advice and information for individuals and clubs in the borough. The website has sections on club development, funding opportunities and pages which give individuals guidance on how to benefit from an ac
tive lifestyle.
"We hope that local clubs and groups will use the website as a resource," said sport development officer Paul Jones.
"The website contains lots of information about what's on, local clubs and events in the Berwick area. We are keen to use the site to promote your event, for your club. What we also want is for the people of Berwick to interact with the site - check it out and tell us what you are doing."
The website currently has details of some forty clubs in the borough covering some twenty sports from rugby, cricket, football and sailing to rowing, gymnastics hockey, martial arts and croquet! The website is also actively encouraging those who want to help out with sport rather than play as all clubs need volunteers for a number of coaching or administrative roles to allow the development of the club to proceed and bring on youngsters and new players.
"Active Berwick role is to promote and develop the sport and Physical Activity within the community by encouraging and supporting all those who want to participate by playing, coaching, refereeing, administrating or spectating." said Gareth Hill, club development officer.
"The website has all ready proven to be a success for clubs in the area with clubs stating that they have had increased interest from parents, players and volunteers who have found their club on the Active Berwick website."
A quick glance at the site wil show up to twenty forthcoming events which people can go along to from a pub cricket tournament and bech soccer to walking and rowing.
