NORHAM Running Club's Castle Bank Challenge proved to be a keenly contested event with defending champion Keith Lyall holding off strong competition to retain his title with an impressive time of 20 minutes and 37 seconds.
Dunbar's Stuart Hay was second in 20.59 and fellow Dunbar runner Ian Rowland was third in 21.05.
Norham's Tim McCall was first in the male vet category, and fourth overall, in 21.52.
In the ladies section Norham's Hannah Humphries continued h
er fine recent form by winning this event in 25.45 , with clubmate Caroline Tyser winning the female vet category in 26.46.
Other Norham finishers were: Steven Simpson 5th in 22.49, Douglas Small 6th in 22.54, Les Turnbull 10th in 23.37, Alan Wood 12th in 23.54, Michael Jones 14th in 24.11, David Knight 16th in 24.31, John Pigg 20th in 25.01, Allan Macaulay 24th in 26.07 and Adrienne Little 27th in 27.06.
Norham won the attached club team prize and the non attached team prize was won by Longridge Supremes.

Jon Watts ran in the Allendale eight mile race, finishing 143rd in 1.26.04. In the Norham Castle Bank Challenge 5.5k event, Craig Scott was the first home in the U19 male category in 21.55, with Terry Gilliland in second place in 24.32 Jess Bagley was the first U19 female in a time of 25.53. Other club members who competed were: Peter Learmonth in 32.56, Dave Stewart in 32.57 and Karen Bagley in 34.55. In the junior 4k event Ross Bagley was first boy home in 16.04, followed by Jake Birkett, second boy in 17.57.
