Northern Alliance League

TWO games, two defeats in the past week, and now Berwick United are looking forward to the end of the season.
Last Wednesday United found themselves on the receiving end when they travelled to Whitley Bay
and went down 7-0.
Then on Saturday they were beaten 4-1 at home by Gateshead Ruttherford.
Berwick now have 27 points from their 28 league games played and their first division status for next season is guaranteed.
They now have two games left to play and will be hoping to end on a winning note when they face Percy Main at home on Saturday, before bringing the curtain down with a visit to South Shields United next Wednesday (May 26).
Manager Ian Knox says: "To be honest, the end of the season can't come soon enough for us.
"Our form hasn't been the best over the past few weeks, but that has been down to playing two, somethimes three games a week for almost a month now.
"It's a lot to ask of the players, particularly with their work commitments and all the travelling involved.
"All we want to do now is have some rest and regroup for next season."

North Northumberland League

IT was a bitter-sweet week for Springhill.
On Friday they lifted the Laidler-Lancaster Cup with a 4-1 win over Bedlington Reserves in the final at St James' Park, Alnwick.
But just two days earlier, they realised their second division title hopes had gone when they lost their last league game of the season, going down 4-0 at home to main rivals Lynemouth.
Springhill knew they had to win the fixture to give themselves any chance, but Lynemouth moved two points clear at the top as a result, meaning their final fixture, against Wooler on Friday, was a mere formality.
In the end they beat their Glendale visitors 5-0 to give them a five-point cushion at the top.

FINAL results from the North Northumberland League are:
Division One - Shilbottle 4, Bedlington Res 5;
Division Two - Lynemouth 6, Embleton 1; Embleton 2, Belford 3; Springhill 0, Lynemouth 4; Hedgeley 4, Bamburgh 0; Lynemouth 5, Wooler 0.
Laidler-Lancaster Cup Final - Bedlington Res 1, Springhill 4.

Border Amateur League

TWEEDMOUTH COLTS .....1
SELKIRK VICTORIA ...........1
COLTS ended the season with a home draw against Selkirk in what was a typical end of season game.
Despite opening strongly the Colts fell behind when a through ball was blocked, only to the edge of the box and the rebound was finished clinically.
However, the Colts got back into the game through McGregor, who had a fine game.
Substitute Reid got the equaliser early in the second half and despite both teams pushing for the winner the deadlock could not be broken.
Colts would like to thank the Brewers Arms for the fine hospitality throughout the season and all the club officials who work behind the scenes.
