The race officer, David Martin, reported that 2009 had been a good year racing-wise although quite a few times sailing was cancelled either because there was too much wind or not enough!

Club president, John Ralph, reported that the results of a recent on-line survey, completed by members of the sailing club, suggested that the club remained strong but more could be done to promote the club and attract new members.

One of the main strengths identified was the informal, friendly atmosphere of the club in a great location, with a mix of sailing choices which they hoped would be appealing to new members.

Training sessions were suggested for novice sailors to make the transition to racing. Sub committees have been formed to work on these areas. Training to Powerboat Level 2 has also been arranged to increase the number of people who can patrol in the rescue boat. This will lessen the number of times sailors have to do rescue boat duty, freeing them up to sail more.
