NN LEAGUE

ALNWICK continue to set the pace at the top of the North Northumberland League, their away win over Percy Wood last week putting them four points ahead of MFGC A and five ahead of Dunstanburgh and Berwick A.

MAGDALENE FIELDS GC

FRIDAY'S M and W eclectic was won by Peter Beveridge on 46.3 with Alan Marshall and Brian Renton on 47.6.
Saturday's medal sweep went to Peter Rae on 83-16-67 with Alan Scambler and Norman Douglas both on 68. Martin Neil won the gross on 76.
Sunday's Father McHugh Invitation was won by N McLachlan and C Stewart with a nett 63 from J Short and F Dempster on 64. Third were P Richardson and A Dewar on 65.
The ladies LGU medal was won by Jane Redpath with nett 69 from Ann Short on 71 and Sheila Steele on 73. The medal and County Medal on Sunday went to Sheila Steele with Jane Redpath in second. The junior May medal was won by John Hutton with Greg Sharp second and Craig Howard third.

WOOLER

THE Proctor and Makepeace greensomes was played in excellent conditions on Saturday and Davie hall and John Ewing both returned fine scores of 47 points, to win by six clear shots from Ian and Daniel Moffat with Vince Bissett and Geoff Tong third on the back nine.
On Sunday, 14 year-old Ross Allan scored his first win in the seniors by winning the second round of the Lonsdale and Cowens on 95-26-69, beating Eric Laidler (84-15-69) on the back nine. Third was Martyn Redpath on 77-7-70.
Di Sim won the ladies April stableford, Golf Foundation Brooch and Callers qualifier. Pat tatters won the Marie Curie qualifier and the Coronation Foursomes with Anne Smithson.
The ladies open Tex Mex was won by Heather Allan, Susan Brown, Sheilagh Curle and Murial Allan on 65.1.

GOSWICK

THE second Lynch Staunton was played on Sunday. Joint first in division one on 42pts were Alan Bain and Andrew Terras. Second were Alan Potts and Ivan Martin on 39pts. Alan Paton won the second division on 37pts with Stephen Breed runner up on 34pts..
The ladies Coronation Foursomes was won by Sue Scott and Liz McClarty Jones with 33 points. Sandra McGonigle won the Silver Division Callers and Medal on 82-6-72 and Anne Kinloch the Bronze Division on 115-32-83. Congratulations go to Tina Richardson who had a hole-in-one.
The Daily Telegraph Junior Open was held in fine conditions last Saturday with Alnmouth Village and Alnwick being invited to participate.
The gross winner was Goswick's Elliot Wilson with a one under par 71, the nett prize went to Alnmouth Village's Ryan Taylor with 87-20-67. The nine hole prize was scooped with a very impressive 26pts by Adam Rutherford.
The weekend also saw the Junior county match between Northumberland and Cumbria at Goswick. The earlier fixture in Workington saw the teams share the spoils 4.5 each. This time Northumberland came out winners, leading 2-1 from the mornings foursomes and then converting the afternoon singles to finish 6-3 with local boy Elliot Wilson doing his part by winning both his matches.

BELFORD

HIGH scoring was the norm in the latest M H Southern & Co Ltd Twilight round. 42 players jostled for the points and even 20 points did not guarantee valuable accumulation points.
Youth was to the fore again with young Shaun Pringle's 26 points leaving league team manager Gary Irving second by a distance on 21 points. Gary Irving returned to the pole position by winning the Marie Curie Trophy with 38 points. Fraser Tait banked 37 points to finish second, whilst the 'Backworth Bandit,' returning from injury was third a point behind.
In a packed clubhouse Michael and Angela Mahoney hosted the presentation of prizes for the Jonathan Mahoney Memorial Trophy.Winning with an excellent score of 41 points another Belford youngster, Ben Young. The Ladies section was won by Wendy Martin, whilst Robbie Bruce took the honours for the Juniors.

SEAHOUSES

THE LGU Medal was won by Pat bell on 91-21-70, with Ann Railton on 89-17-72 and Linda Pinder on 93-21-72.
The Coronation Forsomes was won by M Hogg and S Walker, and the RVI Foursomes went to J Bladen and V Sim.

BAMBURGH

THE MAYP medal was won by M Botham on 78-11-67, followed by K Whitfield on 80-12-68 and and J Porteous on 72-4-68. Best gross was 272 by P Sanderson.
In the ladies the LGU Medal was won by Julie Dawson with a score of 81-11-70, and in second place was Judy Robson on 90-16-74.
