The Northumberland Youth Enterprise Fund (NYEF) is now open for applications.
The NYEF is a small grant fund available to Northumberland residents aged between 16 and 25 to assist with developing a business idea, offer support and provide funding.
The closing date for applications is January 12 however applicants are advised to apply early as the fund is limited and it is anticipated that demand will be high.
Existing businesses are eligible to apply if they are within one year of commencing trading and the business is based within Northumberland.
Applicants are required to complete a straightforward application form as part of a new look application process. This year’s process retains the simplicity from last year but has been improved to add even more focus on developing young people’s enterprise skills.
Councillor Robert Arckless, Northumberland County Council’s policy board member for children’s services said: “Encouraging young people to take initiative and develop their entrepreneurial side can inspire change in all aspects of their lives. This is an opportunity that requires a lot of hard work, but as we have seen from last year’s scheme, the rewards can be great.
“This support will allow Northumberland’s young people to find out what it is like to be their own boss and pursue their career ambitions while gaining valuable skills and experience that will bode well for their future careers.”
