Wattie marks his 50th year

Wattie Robertson of Allanton will mark 50 years as a member of the Whiteadder Burns Club by chairing its Annual Supper on February 3.

The function is being held at Robin’s Nest in Chirnside and chairman Wattie is the club’s longest serving member.

At a committee meeting last week he led the minute’s silence in memory of club president Drew Turnbull who died last month.

The meeting confirmed the line-up for the supper with award-winning David Scott of Duns giving the ‘Immortal Memory’, Michael Ross, a former president of Berwick St Andrews Club, proposing the toast to ‘The Lassies’, John Home Robertson of Paxton, the toast to ‘The Club’ and Tim Sewell of Shilbottle the toast to ‘The Chairman’.

Secretary John Gardiner said there would be “a montage of entertainment” including recitations from Stuart Robertson of Dunbar and Ian Buick of Berwick.
