Residents in the Greenses area of Berwick have again called on Northumberland County Council to address parking problems there.
The narrow streets have become increasingly cluttered in recent years because they still offer free and unrestricted parking.
When residents submitted a 42-signature petition to the council in February, Northumberland County Council’s north area committee agreed to introduce a combination of resident permit parking and no waiting restrictions when funding permitted.
However, addressing the December meeting of the committee last week, Greenses resident Bill Warner said: “We have come to this committee on several occasions and nothing seems to be being done.
“Quite recently I had a house fire and the emergency services could not get through. We’ve also had that with the ambulance.
“People are parking for a fortnight at a time and going on holiday, and we are absolutely fed up of the whole situation!”
Councillor Pat Scott, chair of the north area committee, said the situation was “very serious”, and said that she would personally find out what was happening.
