Lifeboat crews were called to help a stricken yacht off the north Northumberland coast on Friday night.

Teams from Seahouses and Craster, alongside Howick Coastguard, were called to the vessel which had run aground at Newton Point, at around 8.15pm.

They assisted until the yacht was re floated at high tide, just after 2am.

Seahouses lifeboat was called out again when two people were stuck on St Cuthbert’s Island on Sunday afternoon. The crew was launched at around 2.15pm, however it was a quick trip back to base after the individuals managed to get to shore safely and the lifeboat crew was turned around before they got to the island.
