Waiting for Video...

A service of remembrance in Coldstream’s Henderson Park was held on Saturday, August 9, to mark the Coldstream Guards leaving to join the British Expeditionary Force in France in August 1914, at the start of the Great War.

Members of Coldstream Guards Association, Guards from 7th battalion in the town for Coldstream Civic Week duties, and Coldstream Guard cadets were led in prayer and remembrance by Rev Alan Hughes, himself a former guard and retired vicar at Berwick Parish Church. After the service they were led by Coldstream Pipe Band as they marched through the town, the Rt Hon Marquess of Donegal, and an officer from the regiment taking the salute at the war memorial.
