A schoolboy enjoyed a flight of fancy with an afternoon in a simulator. Paul Beattie, 11, flew a 757 on a simulated flight from Newcastle to Stansted and Newcastle to Gatwick.

Paul, from Donaldson’s Lodge, was invited to use the simulator built by a former pilot into his garage in Newcastle. He now uses it to train airline pilots. Paul is a young karter and his hand-eye co-ordination was one of the reasons he was invited to try it out.
