Northumberland Fire and Rescue is looking to recruit new on-call fire-fighters for its retained fire station in Wooler.

A special open evening is being held at the fire station on South Road, Wooler on February 20 from 7pm for anyone interested.

Retained fire-fighters are called upon to tackle a wide range of emergency situations, from tackling fires to dealing with chemical spillages, flooding incidents and road traffic collisions.

Becoming an on-call fire-fighter allows room to combine this role with another job. All that is required is a contract of two hours per week for training and being able to attend call-outs and community safety work.

Retained firefighters must also live no further than 5-6 minutes travel time from the station.
