The Northumberland Residents’ Festival is back and this year it’s set to be bigger than ever over the weekend of March 29-30.

It enables local residents to enjoy the region’s most popular attractions for free or discounted entry.

The fifth annual festival is organised by Northumberland County Council in partnership with over 30 visitor attractions.

This year’s event will coincide with Mothering Sunday, allowing the whole family to enjoy a day out together.

Anyone who lives in Northumberland can take advantage by downloading a special voucher from the council’s website. Festival brochures which include the vouchers are available from local libraries, council offices, tourist information centers and sports centres.

Councilor Val Tyler said: “This weekend is a great opportunity for families right across Northumberland.”

She added: “We would like to encourage local residents to take this opportunity to experience the wonderful attractions available to us all, right on our door step. It’s going to be great to see more and more attractions and residents getting involved.

“This weekend has become really special for local people, allowing them to enjoy a weekend in our county for free or at a discount, and we hope this year’s event will be a big success.”

Among the venues participating are Lindisfarne Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Etal Castle, Heatherslaw Cornmill, Lady Waterford Hall and Paxton House.
