Reading challenge volunteers required

Last year's summer reading challenge had the biggest intake to date.

Last year's summer reading challenge had the biggest intake to date.

Young volunteers are being asked to help out with the summer reading challenge run by Northumberland libraries.

This year’s theme is the Mythical Maze which challenges children aged four to eleven to find their way round a labyrinth of fantastical creatures.

Volunteers should be aged 14 to 24 years old and be willing to undertake a minimum of 10 hours during the summer holidays. Their work will involve them encouraging more children to undertake the challenge, talking to children about the books they have been reading, helping them to choose a new book, helping them to use the summer reading website or getting involved in events.

Library staff will work with the volunteers to provide training and support.

Application forms can be sent to you, please contact Diane Wright, senior librarian children and young people, on email Diane.wright@northumberland.gov.uk
