The way forward for Spittal Gala will be considered at a public meeting in the village.

It has been arranged by the Spittal Improvement Trust after a group of residents called for a change of site back to the school field and the return of the car boot sale to the main street.

The meeting has been arranged in the St Aidan’s Room of St Paul’s Church at 7.30pm on Friday, June 27.

Secretary Mike Greener has confirmed the meeting with the protest group.

Trust committee members were forced to switch to the play area at the south end of the village when they were told that they would not be permitted to use the school after grass was churned up by heavy vehicles which had to go on after last year’s downpour.

The same situation applied this year, and since the event there have been more protests that the site is out of the way and causes problems for elderly people having to walk there.
