1st Longridge B-P Scout Group attended the Flodden 1513 Big Dig at Ford Moss Colliery on Saturday. The event saw the launch of the new Flodden Young Archaeologists’ Club.
The club is aimed at eight to 17-year-olds interested in finding out more about the area’s past.
1st Longridge B-P Scout Group has now been up and running for nine months.
“We have achieved an awful lot in a very short space of time,” said leader Mhairi Vernon.
“We have taken part in many activities including fund raising, helping the community and also day trips away to various places. We have held two Scout camps and two Wolf Cub camps, the latest being a two night Wolf Cub camp last weekend in the Walled Garden at Longridge Towers School.
“The camp also included a day trip to the Flodden Big Dig at Ford Moss Colliery. It was a terrific camp despite the rain and a fantastic day hosted by Jane Miller and Chris Burgess at the Big Dig. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had a great time. My thanks to Jane, Chris and their brilliant team for an interesting day and all the parents who set up and dismantled the camp.”
