A holiday park which boasts one of the best locations and views in Northumberland is celebrating after launching its new £200,000 expansion.

Glororum Holiday Park, near Bamburgh, has opened its new development of 26 new luxury static caravan pitches following the infrastructure investment by park owners Northumbrian Leisure.

Francis Watson Armstrong, owner of Bamburgh Castle, officially opened the development at an open day event to mark the occasion.

Mr Watson Armstrong said: “I am delighted to be opening this impressive expansion here at Glororum Holiday Park.

“Northumbrian Leisure are committed to delivering the highest standards of facilities across their holiday parks and Glororum is no exception.

“Being in an area of outstanding natural beauty as Bamburgh is, the caravan sector plays an ever important role in increasing visitation to Northumberland.

“Holiday parks such as Glororum are an important asset in drawing visitors and their spend into the area.

“Northumbrian Leisure should be applauded for creating these wonderful facilities.”

The development is the latest in a string of improvements carried out by Northumbrian Leisure since the family-owned business took over the Glororum park five years ago.

Nigel Thompson, owner of Northumbrian Leisure, said: “We are proud to be opening this new development here at Glororum.

“Our static pitch investment complements the work already carried out here at Bamburgh to upgrade our touring facilities.

“Now, with the new luxury static pitches added to our previous expansion and improvements at the site, Glororum has all the facilities you need for a modern family caravan holiday in stunning surroundings.”

Northumbrian Leisure also owns holiday parks at Warkworth and South Shields and is headquartered at the five-star rated Golden Sands Holiday Park site at Cresswell.

Since taking over Glororum, the company has carried out a major revamp of the site to bring it up to the modern, luxury standards enjoyed by the group’s other parks.

These include new shower and toilet facilities and laundry plus 42 additional hard standing pitches for touring caravans. There is also the added bonus of a skate park and play park too.
