The Hirsel Golf Club in Coldstream says it has notified police about what it believes is “a mindless act of vandalism” on one of its greens.

The club says “some sort of liquid” has been poured onto the seventh green and is now awaiting the results of tests to determine what it was.

A statement on its Facebook page read: “Our 7th green has been subjected to a mindless act of vandalism with some sort of liquid being poured onto the putting surface.

“We are awaiting results of analysis tests to determine what has been poured onto the green and once we have those results (greenkeeper) Scott (Poole) and the team will get to work with the damaged patch.

“In the meantime if anyone knows of who has done this spineless act please let the club know. The police have been notified.

“The putting surfaces are the best our members and visitors have seen in a good few years and the club remain determined to continue to improve our golf course despite this shameful act.”
