Berwick photographer Tracey Bloxham has joined forces with Google to help launch their internet-based interactive virtual tours.
Tracey, owner of Inside Story Photography who specialise in interior and architectural photography, has just been appointed as Northumberland’s official Google Trusted photographer.
As a result she is now working on behalf of the search engine giants to help promote local businesses using Google Virtual Tours.
These are 360-degree tours powered by Google Street View technology, only this time it allows people to take a virtual tour around the inside of a business allowing them to explore everything that business has to offer simply by using their computers, smartphones or tablets.
The concept has been highly successful in the USA and is now being rolled out across the UK.
A number of local businesses have already been quick to see the benefits including Chirnside Hall Hotel who are the first hotel in the Borders to use the new service to showcase their business.
While Google’s virtual tours can be used by any business, they are proving particularly popular with hotels, pubs and restaurants.
Tracey said: “It means that a potential client can really get a feel for the atmosphere and décor in your restaurant or hotel, perhaps wander around the function rooms, take a look at the menu and even choose which table they would like to sit at – all without leaving the comfort of their home”.
Berwick already features on Google StreetView and the new Google Virtual Tours feature will help local businesses showcase their services on a worldwide stage.
Tracey added: “I’m extremely passionate and excited by this idea – it’s an extremely useful resource for both businesses and their clients.
“I expect it to be a ‘must have’ business tool and expect it to be as as well used as StreetView within a very short time.”
