Three fire engines battled a large fire in front of the Eastcliffe estate in Spittal.

The fire service was called to reports of the blaze at Pipers Quarry at 3.30pm on Thursday last week, as flames took hold of an area of grass.

Two fire engines from Berwick and one from Belford attended the blaze which covered a large area of gorse and undergrowth.

Crews stood down at 4.45pm.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
