A special church service and exhibition will be held in Seahouses later this month to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War.

The Old Parish of Bamburgh Local History Archive, based in Seahouses, is putting on an exhibition entitled “Life on the Home Front”, which will include old photographs and documents relating to the World War One in the area.

The exhibition will take place in St Paul’s Parish Church, North Sunderland as part of the Farne Churches Together service to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War. The centenary service will be held on Sunday, August 17 at 2.30pm, and all are welcome.

The exhibition in the church will be open daily until mid September. The Old Parish of Bamburgh Archive would be interested in any photographs or other information relating to the First World War which could be used in the above exhibition.
