Council staff in Berwick could be moved from Wallace Green to the library as part of a cost saving measure being examined.
Northumberland County Council is looking to integrate standalone customer service points and libraries in Blyth, Berwick, Bedlington, Alnwick and Hexham.
The move, which could save £40,000, is outlined in the Labour administration’s draft budget proposals.
Councillor Val Tyler, the council’s policy board member for community infrastructure and culture said: “We are looking at the possibility of bringing some council services in Berwick together under one roof to provide a better service for the public and save money for the authority.Nothing has been agreed at this stage.
“We will be looking at the best all round options to make sure the council has a strong presence in the town centre and that we bring together as many services as is practical.”
The council’s budget is due to be set on February 18.
