A group of parents have raised concerns about falling numbers of teachers at Berwick Academy.
A new Facebook page called ‘Save our children’s education at Berwick Academy’ has had more than 400 likes.
It is being used as a discussion board for parents concerned about the quality and lack of teaching at the school over the last 12 months.
There are also rumours that a number of teachers will be leaving the school over the summer.
One grandparent who contacted the Berwick Advertiser says there are growing concerns that a “decline in teaching standards” is affecting children’s education.
Linda Prentice told the Advertiser: “A large number of teachers are leaving at the end of this term.
“The school has recently employed a number of supply teachers who were not qualified/able to provide our children with the education required.
“An example of this is a Year 10 class last week had a supply teacher for French who had no knowledge of French and asked the class if they knew any German.”
Ms Prentice, who has written to Berwick MP Sir Alan Beith to express her concerns, says she is “seriously considering” moving her 12-year-old grandson to Berwickshire High School in Duns.
