Concerns over roundabout ads

PLANS to put three advertising signs on the Northumberland Road roundabout in Tweedmouth have met with an objection from town councillors.

Northumberland County Council is seeking planning permission to put free standing advertising hoardings on roundabouts across the county.

But Berwick Town Council’s planning committee, who met on Tuesday, felt the signs were unnecessary on such a small roundabout.

Members were also fearful that the signs, measuring 150cm x 60cm x 40cm, would impede on the sight-lines of road users.

Similar plans have also been submitted for the A698 roundabout at East Ord.
