The Berwick civic party is fulfilling its commitment not to let anyone down, said Mayor, Councillor Isabel Hunter, when she and her Sheriff Michael Richardson paid their official visit to Berwick Rotary Club.

Nearing the end of a busy and momentous 12 months, the mayor recalled many of the highlights and emphasised the pride they took in serving the town. She revealed that her charities - Alzheimer’s and Dementia, had already raised over £5,000.

She had attended many events, with highlights including Spittal Gala, Tweedmouth Feast and the lifeboat fete, Minden Day, which was attended by Princess Anne, her own Mayor’s Sunday in Wallace Green Church, and the Flodden anniversary.

Sheriff Michael Richardson emphasised the long history and great importance of the shrievalty. It was a position he was proud to hold.
