A BEADNELL hotelier has lodged plans to bring a former village shop back into use.
Michael Dawson of the Craster Arms Hotel plans to completely refurbish the vacant cafe and takeaway unit, formerly The Village Pantry, to form a new hot and cold food bistro style cafe/takeaway and evening restaurant.
It is anticipated the cafe/bistro would operate from 7am to 6pm and the restaurant from 6pm to 11pm.
The building is sandwiched between two residential properties on the corner junction of The Haven and Church Cottages and offers a prominent position for passing trade.
The plans were submitted to Northumberland County Council last week.
The applicant has stated that adequate free parking would be available to all customers at the nearby Craster Arms.
Matrix Architecture, in documents accompanying the application, reveal that a new ramped access is proposed along with minor changes to the layout.
The shopfront will be given a modern contemporary look while the small glazed window to the north elevation will be blocked up.
It is also proposed to install a new double glazed rooflight over the restaurant to allow natural daylight to flood the space and create a light and airy atmosphere.
