A brand new networking event to bring together business with local Voluntary Community Sector (VSC) organisations is taking place in Ashington.

Morrisons, Greggs, Marks and Spencer, Barclays Bank, Owen Pugh, Falcons Rugby Club Foundation and Carr & Co. Solicitors are among businesses who have already signed up.

The event takes place at Ashington Community Development Trust, known locally as the old Co-op building, on Tuesday 10 June from 4pm to 7.30pm, and includes key note speaker, Brian Burnie from cancer care trust; ‘Daft as a brush’ and a speed networking activity. A buffet and refreshments will be provided.

Elaine O’Connor, Head of Employability and Skills at Northumberland County Council, said, “This is a great opportunity for local businesses to share how they can practically fulfil their CSR, further develop their networks across business and the Community Sector and work to strengthen the local economy. VCS organisations can showcase the practical support they would benefit by developing their networks with other sectors and subsequently improve the resources available to them.”
