Berwicks slimmers will put their best foot forward during a 5k Slimming World does Race for Life event to raise money for charity.
The women and men, who are all members of Julia Burn’s Slimming World groups in Berwick, will be holding starting the event outside the Barracks on Monday (July 28) at 7pm to raise money for Cancer Research UK, Slimming World’s charity partner for 2014.
The group is welcoming anyone in Berwick to join in, whether by taking part or spectating, and help them to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
The Kings Arms and Black & Gold groups’ race is part of a national event running across all Slimming World groups between July 21 and August 3. The race is not competitive, and those taking part can choose the distance they’d like to cover – 1km, 3km, 5km or more – and can run, walk, cycle or skate across the finish line, whatever form of activity they love to do.
Julia Burn, who runs both the Kings Arms & Black & Gold Slimming World groups says her members are really looking forward to the Slimming World does Race for Life event.
“We’d love anyone in Berwick to join us whether they’re young, old, male or female and whatever their current fitness level,” Julia said. “Anyone who wants to take part can run, walk or even dance the distance – as long as they cross the finish line we don’t mind!
“Hopefully the event will show people just how motivating being part of a group like ours can be.”
