A group of local residents have set up the Berwick Educational Association.
The group plans to offer a full programme of classes and excursions to local people on all kind of subjects ranging from local history and archaeology to geology, art and literature.
Chairman Pam Campion said: “This a really exciting time for us as a Society. After over 30 years of experience with the Workers’ Educational Association we are branching out on our own.
“We now have freedom to set up the kind of classes, lectures and excursions that local people want to attend and can fit into their busy lives.
“We are flexible and open to new ideas so if you want to keep learning and enjoy a bit of company too please get in touch.
“We would also love to hear from local people with experience of delivering education in any field as we are always on the lookout for new subjects to offer.”
Its autumn programme kicks off with a 10 week course of lectures and excursions on local archaeology led by archaeologist Kristian Pederson.
