Belford pupils join Jamie’s food revolution

Waiting for Video...

Friday was ‘Food Revolution Day’ when children all around the world were encouraged to eat more healthily.

Pupils at Belford First School in Northumberland were just some of hundreds of thousands who joined in the project, fronted by chef Jamie Oliver.

They were shown via a live video link, how to make ‘Rainbow Salad Wraps,’ which consisted of carrots, beetroot, onion, cabbage and a home-made dressing.

The children all enjoyed the experience, and they were joined by a number of parents who were invited along for the afternoon.

Teacher Carla Weddell, who helped organise the event in the school, said: “We have been encouraging the children to eat more healthily.

“We have had new kitchens fitted recently, we also have our own vegetable garden and the children have been learning all about the seasons and how to gain more confidence in the kitchen.”
