Volunteer recruitment drive planned by national park
A CAMPAIGN to recruit a new cadre of visitor ambassadors who will be out and about in Northumberland National Park during the 2013 season will begin next week.
The park’s information assistants have already built up a national reputation for excellence for their knowledge, understanding and support of visitors - helping win the prestigious North East England Tourism, Best Information Provider Award.
Now, that expertise is to be harnessed to give visitors a rich and special experience as they explore the beautiful scenery the park has to offer. They want visitors to have a wonderful time and putting friendly, helpful people in the heart of our most beautiful countryside is one way to make sure that happens.
Tony Gates, chief executive, said: “There are some things this region does very well indeed and we need to use every advantage we have to compete for visitors.
“Our new visitor ambassadors will get exceptional training from an exceptional team to raise the standards of visitor welcome over an increasingly wide area.”
Successful candidates will receive thorough training and support and will be easily identifiable by visitors from the latest outdoor gear branded with their role.
