Tweedmouth pupils inspired by gymnast
Craig Heap working with Tweedmouth Middle pupils after giving an inspirational talk at a full school assembly on 'be the best you can be day'
PUPILS at Tweedmouth Middle School are learning to be the best that they can be, thanks to a new Olympic-inspired programme.
The Be the Best you can Be! initiative, which was recently launched at the school by Commonwealth Games gymnastic gold medallist Craig Heap, enables young people to discover and develop the unique potential within themselves. It aims to inspire, engage and empower them to pursue and fulfil their dreams.
The programme has been developed as an educational legacy going beyond sport and the inspiration of London 2012.
Headteacher Chris Durie explained: “I was determined that our school would be one of the schools to undertake Be the Best you can Be! as it begins to roll out nationally. The inspiration offered by high achievers including Olympians and Paralympians who strive to achieve their dreams is incredibly powerful and can really reach out and engage our young people. I was pleased to welcome Craig to launch our programme, and my teachers and I look forward to delivering it.”
