Scremerston pupils get a close up view of the solar system
As part of Scremerston First Schools topic on Space, parents and friends joined pupils in an evening of Space themed activities. Members of Northumberland Astronomical Society demonstrated their powerful telescopes and presented A Tour of the Solar System .
AS part of Scremerston First School’s topic on space, parents and friends joined pupils in an evening of themed activities.
Members of Northumberland Astronomical Society demonstrated their powerful telescopes and presented “A Tour of the Solar System”.
Unfortunately, the terrible weather meant it was not possible to look at the night sky as had been planned.
However, pupils were still intrigued to see the telescopes up close and find out more about outer space.
Head teacher Helen Harrison said: “We’ve been doing space-themed activities the whole term and the PTFA (Parents Teachers Friends Association) helped organise this event on Friday night.
“It’s a subject that has captured the imagination of the pupils. They’ve really loved it and some of the questions they were asking showed it.”
