Reduce energy bills at Saturday swop shop

IF you are worried about your energy bills or need help to manage your finances, help is at hand at several events being held as part of Big Energy Saving Week.

Berwick Voluntary Forum, in partnership with Community Action Northumberland, has organised the events. Information and advice will be available at Wooler Library and Seahouses Sports Centre this afternoon (October 25) and Belford Community Group is hoping to host various events in their Community Shop as well as providing drop-in advice sessions on Friday, October 26.

The main event – Big Energy Saturday Swop Shop - is on Saturday, October 27 in Berwick Guildhall from 1.30pm-4.30pm. This will focus on energy conservation, reducing energy costs and re-cycling household items.

There will be a number of demonstrations by the Berwick Art and Craft Group, Berwick Community Trust will have a stall displaying information about various energy-saving projects and Seton Care will be encouraging members of the public to volunteer and divert their “energy” into a new cross border befriending project. Information will also be available from members of the Salvation Army Recycling Project along with the Berwick Youth Project. Students from Berwick Academy will provide a “pop-up” cafe, while members of the public can come along to play their part in the Swop Shop.
