Praise for fire service scheme

A PROGRAMME run by Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) and designed to help young people get into work or training has been described as ‘outstanding’ in a recent inspection.

The Prince’s Trust ‘Team’ programme is a 12 week personal development course delivered by NFRS for 16 to 25-year-olds who are not in education employment or training.

Alex Bennett, chief fire officer for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service, said: “This programme aims to equip young people for the world of employment and training and help them overcome any barriers to doing this in an environment of mutual support and respect.

“Feedback from those who have taken part over the 12 weeks is extremely positive.”
