Police target anti social behaviour

EXTRA police patrols have been deployed in Berwick in a bid to tackle youth-related anti social behaviour.

Extra patrols were on duty in the town throughout February, including the half term holidays.

Berwick Neighbourhood Inspector Davy Garrick explained: “Anti-social behaviour is often a matter of perception, and can effect the whole of the community.

“I have directed extra patrols into areas around the Swan Centre, the Retail Park, the Rose Gardens and the town centre where problems with youths have been reported.

“The officers have been speaking to youths and residents to discuss what causes problems at those locations.

“They are discussing how we can work together to share ideas about how to resolve anti-social behaviour.”

Inspector Garrick said that this activity was intended to reduce problems and to improve communities by working together.
