NORTHUMBERLAND County Council is making changes to the way planning services are provided.

A new team has been established to deal specifically with more straightforward applications such as those relating to house improvements, advertisements and work on trees, in a more streamlined way. This team will have officers at Alnwick and at County Hall in Morpeth.

A major projects team will work on larger developments such as new minerals sites, major renewable energy proposals, large scale housing schemes and town centre redevelopments.

Future plans, still being developed, include providing advice at a more local level in libraries or other community venues.
