Motorists escape uninjured after Fenwick collision

A DRIVER has been reported for road traffic matters following a collision on the A1 at Fenwick.

The accident, involving two vehicles, was reported to police at 7.05am on Tuesday, February 19.

Police say noone was seriously injured, though the driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital for cautionary checks.

Councillor Hazel Bettison, who witnessed the crash, said: “I was travelling behind two articulated lorries, when this car over took me when a small van was coming towards us. The driver hit the oncoming vehicle and took off in the air, coming down facing the opposite way.”

She added: “When is any government minister in Westminster ever going to realise how important it is we have the main road from England to Scotland dual carriage, why do we have to wait until fatalities to make them wake up?”
