Mobile library service under review
The county council is reviewing its mobile library service and local people are being asked for their views.
Questionnaires have been sent out to the 4,500 or so registered customers of the rural service which has informed proposed changes to timetables and routes.
But now the council have asked the wider public for their views on the service.
Coun Neil Bradbury, executive member responsible for libraries, said: “We are suggesting some proposed changes to the service, with the ultimate aim of creating a better, and more consistent service for all of its users and safeguarding the long term future of the mobile library service.
“We feel there is scope to revise the timetable and make the savings required, without detriment to the service,” he added.
The six week consultation will run until December 30. To find out more on the proposals and how to make your views known, visit the council’s website or speak to the mobile library driver or local librarian.
Meanwhile a new look library website has been launched by the council. Each library in Northumberland now has its own mini site at www.mylibrary.co.uk containing a guide to everything you can do there; including opening times and, events. Existing customers can reserve or renew books online and much more.
