Litter bin advert idea is thrown out

BERWICK Town Council has thrown out a request for advertising space on litter bins.

The council was approached by a local taxi firm wanting to advertise on the waste bins around the town.

However, the council’s environment and regeneration committee dismissed the idea.

Councillor Clive Routledge said: “I think it would look untidy and isn’t worth it given that it would only generate a small income.”

Coun Isabel Hunter warned that it would encourage a ‘free for all’ approach from fly posters.

And Coun Jennifer Waterhouse said that it would be impossible to police without adequate resources.
